<p class="page-lede">Everything here is free to use with attribution
(<abbr title="Creative Commons Attribution 4.0">CC BY 4.0</abbr>): "GTFS Scorecard
(gtfsscorecard.org), scored on top of the MobilityData gtfs-validator." This page says
what the numbers can and cannot support, so a story built on them holds up.</p>
<section class="feed-details"><h2 class="section-title">Claims the data supports</h2>
<ul>
<li>"Agency X's published schedule data expired on [date], so trip planners like
Google Maps stop showing its service." Expiry is read directly from the feed.</li>
<li>"N of the M feeds this site tracks in [country or subdivision] have expired."
Counts over the covered set, with the exact geographic scope named.</li>
<li>"Agency X's feed does not say which stops are wheelchair accessible." A statement
about published data, and usually a one-setting fix in the agency's software.</li>
<li>"Across the feeds currently covered, [pct]% publish fare data." This is a claim
about this site's corpus, not about all agencies in the world.</li>

<section class="feed-details"><h2 class="section-title">Claims it does not support</h2>
<ul>
<li><strong>"The worst transit agency in [country]."</strong> The scorecard covers a
curated set of feeds, not every agency in any country; absence means not covered,
never failing, and a position here is not a national rank.</li>
<li><strong>"Agency X's vehicles are inaccessible."</strong> The accessibility number
measures whether the data is published, never whether a stop or vehicle is usable.</li>
<li><strong>"Agency X is out of compliance."</strong> Nothing here is an official
determination; the readiness signals map data quality onto requirements, and the
official checks belong to the agencies and their regulators.</li>
<li><strong>Grade differences as agency performance.</strong> A grade describes the
published feed bytes under a disclosed scoring contract, not the agency's capacity or
service quality. Public absolute rankings and individual peer percentiles are not
published; direct comparisons appear only for like-for-like scorecards.</li>
</ul></section>
<section class="feed-details"><h2 class="section-title">Story-ready data</h2>
<p>Every number on this site is downloadable. Start with the
<a href="/pulse/">coverage overview</a>, then use the country and subdivision
rows in <a href="/api/v1/by-location.json">the location API</a> to state the
denominator precisely. For a citable snapshot, use a dated
<a href="https://github.com/ChelseaKR/gtfs-scorecard/releases">dataset release</a>
rather than the live site, which can change after a completed scoring run. Methodology, rubric weights, and
the validator version are all published:

<a href="/data/">the open dataset</a>.</p></section>
<section class="feed-details"><h2 class="section-title">United States reporting context</h2>
<p>U.S.-only reporting can also use the <a href="/ntd/">FTA NTD readiness</a>
view, <a href="/ntd/shapes/">Report Year 2026 shapes.txt explainer</a>, state
program pages, and the compatibility
<a href="/api/v1/by-state.json">by-state API</a>. These sources support claims
about the covered U.S. feeds and should not be generalized to other countries.</p></section>
